The English Springer Spaniel is an especially attractive spaniel, combining beauty, strength and quality to an exceptional degree. The body, well proportioned and balanced, provides it with the strength and endurance to master all the hunting jobs assigned to it. An ideal hunting dog, whose athletic figure and exceptionally keen nose enables it to find and retrieve even heavy game in rough ground. The English Springer is also well suited for finding and retrieving game in water, both in deep water and among reeds.
The English Springer Spaniel is an ancient breed of hunting dog with of pure origins, although, like the Welsh Springer Spaniel, it was not recognised and described as a variety in its own right by the Kennel Club until 1902. It combines all the qualities of character which are more less symptomatic of all kinds of spaniel: friendliness, cheerfulness, affectionateness, energy, vitality, courage and enthusiasm. Aggression is totally alien to its nature.
