Field Spaniel
Country of Origin: Great Britain

At the beginning of the nineteenth century the Field Spaniel was not distinguished from the Cocker Spaniel. The Field Spaniel has the same origin as the Cocker Spaniel but is somewhat larger and longer in build. It lies somewhere between the Cocker Spaniel and Springer Spaniel in size.

Its noble appearance indicates that it is a well balanced, sporting, lively and robust animal, suitable for rough shooting as well as being considered a good companion in the bush. Like all spaniels it has an exceptionally keen nose and is also very well suited for working in water.

The Field Spaniel is very seldom seen at dog shows here in Germany compared to in its mother country, and must be considered something of a rarity. It is not suited for living in a city.
